A small finish

 Just finished a small hardanger mat designed by one of my favourite embroiderers, Yvette Stanton.

This piece was selected as my rotation piece. Not sure if I should do some buttonhole stitch round the edge. Any suggestions?? It's framed in the book

17th century Band sampler

Just finished my current rotation and have "finished" the stitching, but next time I pick this project in my rotation, I will complete the hemstitching to finish it off.

I did the last part of lettering and went back to finish the hardanger like bits in the whitework section, just removed threads in the open parts as the other stitching had to be completed before removing any threads.

It's a lovely piece from Sampler and Antique Needlework Quarterly a pattern by Darlene O'Steen. Its a few feet long on 32 count ecru linen.

May finish

Here is my first attempt at Portuguese whitework from Yvette Stanton's book.

I didn't have the right linen (this one was natural instead of white and rather stiff) but I wanted to have a go. Tracing the pattern for the middle stitching was hard through the non-white fabric which was fairly dense, but it was only a practice piece.

The outside drawn thread work is meant to be "wiggly", in fact they are called wiggly bars!!!

I hadn't done bullions for a long while.

More April 2020 finishes

Here are some more finishes:

two Mill Hill kits (on left and right). I just love the Mill Hill stiockings, they were available some years ago but I got a number of them then.

The Tea for Two is finished except for the small hanger at the top. Do you think I can find it??

And here re some more. I actually got the sewing machine out (rare for me) sewed up the sides of these 3 small kits and added some of our home grown lavender into each one.

I've finished so many small items, its time that I started a new project tomorrow!! I will start my first Portuguese whitework piece from Yvette Stanton's book which I've had for some years.

April 2020 finishes!

Here I am on a roll, went back to my rotation and decided to finish these 2 ornaments. Bit cuter than I normally like but quite cheerful aren't they.

They were an easy finish: running stitch around each one, after putting a bit of fibrefill inside and the twisted cord. Just in case I forget, I used 2x100 cm of 6 strand floss for twisted cord.

Cluny tapestry progress and a finish!!

So far so good!!

At last I have another finish on a medium size project, its called Emerald dragonfly by Nora Corbett

here it is!!

Now shall I start its companion piece Silver Dragonfly?? My brother gave me both many years ago before my LNS shut down.

Had a bit of trouble logging back in, but luckily I think its OK now!!

And here is one of my entries into the Geelong show last year: Bedfordshire lace Rose, pattern by Jean Leader a terrific lace teacher from England. I was lucky to receive First prize in this section, the pattern used approximately 60 pairs of bobbins, quite a feat (but some came into the pattern and then left again!!)
